Reconstructed turquoise is a gemstone (formerly known as a "semi-precious stone"). Since turquoise stones are of beautiful blue and absolutely perfect, i.e. without matrix (black lines) - extremely rare and expensive, it may make sense to use reconstructed turquoise. Reconstructed turquoise is made up of pieces or powder of real turquoise mixed with silicon and resin. This technique stabilizes and strengthens the material, making it more durable and less porous than natural turquoise. Its hardness is between 5 and 6 on the Mohs scale.
